Books

Books written from clinical practice — on masking and identity, executive function and attention, self-compassion, and sustainable well-being. Each one is built around a framework you can actually use: structured enough to follow, flexible enough to return to when life doesn't cooperate. They don't assume you'll read cover to cover or implement everything at once. That's not how any of this works.

The focus throughout is practical rather than motivational. These aren't books about trying harder or thinking differently about yourself. They're about building clearer structure around the actual conditions of your life — so things hold up even on the days when you're running low.

Writing

Evidence-informed writing on neurodivergence, AI, executive function, masking, and what gets in the way of support that actually holds. Recent pieces include The AI Oscillation Trap — on how bouncing between outsourcing and reclaiming control can quietly erode your own judgment — and work on the mismatch-overload-distress cycle in mixed-neurotype relationships.

The writing here isn't aimed at a single audience. Some pieces are written for neurodivergent adults navigating their own experience. Others are written for clinicians and organizations thinking about how their systems and environments create friction for the people inside them. A lot of it is useful to both. Take what is useful and leave the rest.

Guest Appearances

Podcasts

Longer conversations on the Neurocontextual Systems Therapy framework, why mismatch is a structural problem rather than a personal one, what neuroinclusion looks like when it goes beyond surface accommodations, and what it takes to support neurodivergent adults in ways that reduce friction rather than adding more of it.

These conversations tend to go places that shorter content can't — into the clinical reasoning behind the framework, the real-world complexity of unmasking, what it costs to operate in environments that weren't designed for you, and why the same person can manage something easily one week and not at all the next. All episodes are linked with show notes and context on the podcasts page.

Elizabeth Morrison, M.S., L.P.C. is a Licensed Professional Counselor (Texas), author, and the developer of Neurocontextual Systems Therapy (NST) — a mismatch-based psychotherapy framework designed specifically for neurodivergent adults. Her clinical work centers on the intersection of nervous system capacity, environmental demand, and person-environment fit: the recognition that difficulty is often structural rather than personal, and that support works best when it addresses friction at its source rather than asking people to compensate harder for conditions that aren't working.

Elizabeth writes and consults on neuroinclusion, executive function, masking and identity, self-compassion, and what AI can and cannot do in clinical and everyday contexts. Her books — including Borrowed Faces: The Psychology of Masking and the Fragmented Self and Finding Focus — are written for neurodivergent adults and the clinicians and organizations that support them. She speaks from active practice, values precision over polish, and brings the same directness to conversations that she brings to her clinical work. Creative Solutions Coaching is based in Conroe, Texas.

Topics

Conversations typically draw on one or more of the following. A full question list by topic is available on request.

  • Neurocontextual Systems Therapy (NST) — the mismatch framework and why environment is part of the clinical equation
  • Masking, identity, and what safe unmasking actually requires — not just permission, but conditions
  • Executive function and ADHD in adults — practical framing that doesn't flatten into productivity advice
  • Neuroinclusion in organizations — what reduces friction versus what just signals inclusion
  • AI in clinical and everyday contexts — fluency, false confidence, and where human judgment can't be outsourced
  • Self-compassion without spiritual bypassing — what the clinical version actually looks like
  • Mixed-neurotype relationships and the mismatch–overload–distress cycle

Sample Interview Questions

  • What is Neurocontextual Systems Therapy and how does it differ from other approaches to neurodivergent care?
  • You talk about mismatch being a structural problem rather than a personal one — what does that mean in practice?
  • What does "masking" cost people over time, and what does it actually take to unmask safely?
  • Why do so many neurodivergent adults describe being capable one week and completely unable the next — and what's actually happening there?
  • What are the most common mistakes organizations make when trying to build neuroinclusive workplaces?
  • You've written about the limits of AI in clinical contexts — where does AI go wrong in ways that aren't obvious?
  • What's the difference between self-compassion as it's commonly taught and what it actually means clinically?
