🧠 Flow Model 🧠
In game design, a "Flow Model" can be used to visually represent how a person's emotional state is influenced by the level of skill and the level of challenge involved in a game. To achieve "flow", a person must be highly skilled and face a highly challenging task. If the challenge is too low (boredom), or the challenge is too high (anxiety) compared to the skill level, the person will likely fall into a less immersive emotional state. Flow models show how to increase engagement and productivity.
Think about some video games you’ve experienced a flow state. Ever wish your kids liked chores as much as video games? Ever wish you liked chores as much as video games? We can use flow models like this to gamify just about anything. We can turn chores and projects and work into games for ourselves.
